BJP to Retain Defence and External Affairs Ministries

In the formation of the NDA 3.0 government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will retain several crucial ministries, including Defence and External Affairs. Alongside the Prime Minister’s post, the BJP will keep four additional ministries.

TDP and JD(U) to Receive Three Ministries Each

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) are each expected to be allocated three ministerial positions. This move indicates a significant inclusion of these regional allies in the central cabinet, reinforcing their influence within the coalition.

LJP (Ramvilas) to Secure Two Ministerial Berths

Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) is projected to secure two ministerial berths, maintaining their representation in the government.

Strategic Allocation of Major Portfolios to Allies

While the BJP will retain key national security and diplomatic portfolios, major ministries such as Home Affairs, Finance, and Railways are expected to be allocated to coalition partners. This strategy aims to balance power within the coalition and ensure cohesive governance.

Swearing-In Ceremony Set for Sunday Evening

The swearing-in ceremony for Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi and 14 cabinet ministers is scheduled for Sunday at 7:15 PM at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This marks Modi’s third consecutive term as Prime Minister, placing him alongside Jawaharlal Nehru as only the second Indian leader to achieve this milestone.

Key Discussions and Final Preparations

Senior BJP leaders, including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and party president J P Nadda, have held discussions with allies like TDP’s N Chandrababu Naidu and JD(U)’s Nitish Kumar to finalize the representation in the government. Prominent BJP figures such as Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh are expected to secure positions in the new Cabinet.

International Dignitaries to Attend

Leaders from neighbouring countries and the Indian Ocean Region are expected to attend the ceremony, aligning with India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and ‘SAGAR’ vision. Confirmed attendees include Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

Enhanced Security Measures in Place

Security measures have been heightened for the event, with Delhi Police imposing prohibitory orders and declaring the capital a no-flying zone for June 9 and 10. The Rashtrapati Bhavan is meticulously preparing for the grand event, ensuring designated enclosures for the council of ministers and VVIPs.
