Chief Workshop Manager Office, Carriage & Wagon Works, Perambur, Southern Railway has officially released the recruitment notification (Notification No. 01/2026) for Act Apprentice engagement across various designated trades for ITI and Fresher candidates. A total of 4,471 slots (163 Freshers + 4,308 Ex-ITI) are available across various workshops and divisions in Southern Railway jurisdiction.
Eligible candidates can submit their online application forms on the official Southern Railway website (sr.indianrailways.gov.in) from 28 August 2026 to 27 September 2026 (till 5:00 PM).

Stipend Rates, Selection Process & Benefits
Monthly Stipend
- Fresher (10th Pass): ₹8,200/- per month
- Fresher (12th Pass): ₹9,600/- per month
- Ex-ITI Category: ₹9,600/- per month
Selection Process
- Merit List Preparation: No written exam or interview. Selection is strictly based on academic/technical marks:
- Freshers (10th/12th): Marks converted to 200 marks scale.
- Ex-ITI: 50:50 weightage to 10th marks (100) and ITI marks (100) = Total 200 marks.
- Document Verification (DV) & Medical Fitness Test.
Special Railway Benefit
- Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAAs) holding NCVT certificates receive 20% preference in Level-1 direct recruitment railway jobs.
How to Apply Online
1.Visit Official Portal:
Go to the official Southern Railway website at sr.indianrailways.gov.in. Navigate to News & Updates → Personnel Branch Information.
2.New Registration:
Click on the online application link for Act Apprentice Notification No. 01/2026. Complete registration using a valid mobile number and email ID to generate credentials.
3.Fill Application Form:
Log in and select applicant category (Fresher or Ex-ITI), unit preference, trade, and enter educational/technical marks.
4.Upload Documents:
Upload scanned copies of required documents, certificates (10th/12th/ITI), community certificate (if applicable), photo, and signature.
5.Fee Payment & Final Submission:
Pay the non-refundable processing fee of ₹100/- online (if applicable). Submit the form on or before 27 September 2026 (5:00 PM) and print the acknowledgement page.
